Community Engagement
More than ever, retirement brings opportunities for seniors to take advantage of everything in life and our community is the perfect place to do just that! The heart of retirement is about opportunities to engage in new and rewarding activities.
Whether it’s laughing over a bowl of ice cream at the local ice cream social or watching high school students march by at the 4th of July parade, community outings provide opportunities to build relationships through laughter and shared experiences.
Hancock Village is active in community education programs for our youth through partnerships with local agencies. Both youth and residents benefit from the wisdom and experience each generation shares. The VolunTeen Program places many area youth into volunteer positions throughout the Hancock Village campus. The active interactions and engagement between these generations is enriching for both our youth and seniors.
Our seniors are busy baking Grandma’s Cookies every month to share with local businesses and have taken an active role with giving back to youth and their parents who use W.O.W. Park, just down the street. From serving lemonade to building birdhouses designed to hold books for parents and children to read while taking a break from playing at the park, our seniors are invested in the lives of area youth.
