Hickory Grove Supportive Living

Welcome home to Hickory Grove

Where the heart is

Hickory Grove is more than just a place to stay; it’s a community to settle into that feels like home. One of the first things you’ll notice when you visit is the inviting “front porch” areas by the entrance to each apartment, decorated by residents to reflect individual tastes and personality, and a sign of welcome to fellow residents. Each one- or two-bedroom apartment is a comfortable personal retreat with a kitchenette, living area and spacious bathroom.

Camaraderie

Making friends and finding people to spend time with is never a problem at Hickory Grove. Our social and recreational programs and a multi-purpose game room mean there’s always something fun to do. We designed our inviting common areas to foster friendly interaction. Conversations spring up in the seating area around the fireplace or in our spacious dining room. The library offers the diversion of puzzles and books. Our lovely gazebo is a great place to enjoy beautiful weather or flower gardening. Of course, our homey dining area with its three delicious buffet meals a day is like dining out with friends for every meal.

Our Wellness Programs focus on meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of residents through a variety of activities including daily excercise groups, swimming, book clubs, worship services and Bible Study and groups designed to keep residents intellectually challenged and engaged. A variety of special interest clubs are designed to allow you to find something you will enjoy.

Our seniors still have a lot to offer our community and they stay engaged with community service projects such as the Hancock County Food for Thoughts Program that provide weekend meals to area children and multi-generational projects involving children at the W.O.W. Park in Carthage. Whether it is building specialty "bird/book houses" for parents and children to borrow a book and read while playing at W.O.W. park or free lemonade every week to children playing at the park, our seniors prove getting older doesn't mean sitting on the porch in a rocking chair!

We take pride in our multi-generational programs including our collaboration with local job training programs for young people, our Volunteen Program which allows area youth to volunteer with the seniors who live at Hickory Grove and our partnership with the Hancock County Farm Bureau which brings beautiful flowers to our campus every year. Our seniors are sharing special recipes they love to our Community Kitchen and baking Grandma's Cookies that they share with local businesses every month. The importance of being involved and staying active is key in everything we do here at Hickory Grove.

“The staff and other people are always nice to talk to, but I know I also have privacy when I need it. The food is wonderful; which is something we never would have been able to do at home alone.”
